Today’s inspiration, tomorrow’s published!

Hi

The temperatures seem to have dipped so it’s a woolly jumper kind of a day – I can do creative and woolly though so it’s all good!

This is a haiku I wrote today inspired by the leafy chaos in the park, I thought that I’d share it…

Strong beau, sweep me up

Murmured the leaves to the broom

Lost beau was a rake!

And huge thanks to Morgen Bailey who has used one of my “spread the word” poems: It can be found via this link:

I am editing a short story at the moment that’s based in Spring and I sent a children’s Christmas story ready for upload in December to an editor this afternoon.

Talk about season hopping!

Have a great week, stay warm or cool depending on where you are and with joy I can tell you that there are only 51 days left until Christmas…ho, ho, ho! (Don’t groan!!)

Out Now!

Bits and Pieces

Hiya

They say that variety is the spice of life and after this week I believe it!

Apart from reading the shorter books on my Kindle ready for me to really get in to War and Peace…

I’ve been working on getting some of my e-books in to a printed format which was a bit daunting but a lot of fun.

I wrote a Hallowe’en poem and a Christmas children’s story within a couple of hours of each other, a seasonal literary shift with only lunch to separate them!

I’ve also written another preschool/kindergarten children’s story and published that as an e-book.

And, in case you were thinking “oooh what a show off!!” I also wrote a children’s story that when I returned to it the next day I thought that was pants to give it a really technical phrase! and I immediately and ruthlessly deleted it and rewrote it. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind!

I was shortlisted for a competition too – top three apparently – soooo close and yet soooo far from the prize! Hey ho.

I actually managed to oversleep a little on two mornings this week – I think it’s the darker autumn mornings that are to blame and it’s ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the words willpower, sleepy and cosy!! Actually, I think it’s thanks to the anxiety disorders getting sorted too, that makes sleep SO much easier!

Next week I shall be editing like a ninja – as long as my duvet and I find a way to separate! 😉

Have a fab weekend.

Good Days and Tolstoy

Hi

Another busy week, writing poetry and editing a short Christmas story for Amazon Kindle.

I started the week wearing t-shirts and this end of the week, I’m layering up which can only mean one of two things…

* Writing about Christmas and snow has made me feel cold so my mind has moved to Siberia (eek!)

OR

* Autumn has arrived! Bye to summer. (sob!)

I think my Christmassy writing is done for the moment so perhaps I should write about sunshine, sipping Pina coladas and tropical heat…then my brain can move to the Caribbean!!

Next, I’ll be working on a quiz book, then a children’s story and then, and then, and then…Lovely! I can’t do “not busy” it drives me mad or, more accurately, gives my OCD/PTSD time to encroach on my brain space.

I have had the honour of a few compliments about my writing in the last couple of days from people who weren’t biased (yay) and I have to say that it was very nice to be appreciated and to feel that my writing is growing and moving in the right direction.

It reminded me that people often concentrate on the negative rather than the positive…maybe we should make it a habit to say something nice to someone, pay somebody a compliment each day and to ourselves!!!

My therapist has been retraining my brain for months to think positively and it really does make you feel better about things.

Who knows, you might change someone’s day from decidedly average to fantastic which is never a bad thing!

And yes, particularly in the UK that may well be greeted with surprise and an “is she mad??!!” look but hey, at least it’s a good deed!

And I’ve also set myself the challenge of reading War and Peace – Thank goodness it’s the Kindle version my arms would break holding a paper/hardback version!

Have fun and keep smiling peeps.

Guess what I’ve been doing?!

Hiya,

If you took part in my poll – Thank you X;-) – and you probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’ve been working on a book called Mulled Wine Is Not Just For Christmas!

It was going to be an article but the more I researched, the more I learned, the more I wrote and well, this is the result…http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51aecG4kjgL._AA278_PIkin4,BottomRight,-51,22_AA300_SH20_OU01_.jpg

Don’t you just LOVE a writer’s life! You can learn more about something, become engaged in it and write it all down for posterity. The hard work is worth it!

(It’ll be out on Amazon Kindle 5th October, available for pre-order now if you want to, no pressure!)

Amongst the wine thoughts a haiku came to me, hope that you enjoy it…

Airborne

White haired, she dances

Airborne, sees beauty of life

Dandelion’s end.

Have a fab rest of the day!

Joanne

Please can you help me…I’m data mining!

Hi

Please don’t groan but it would be brilliant if you could take a look at these two polls and answer them for me.

You’ll be helping with my article research and can have a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you’ve done your good deed for the day!

And if you have any comments, feel free to post them.

Thanks for your help!

Joanne
